Our family got a chance to go to see the Olympic torch come to Chilliwack. It was kind of packed so we didn’t get to see much of the show but seeing the torch come through was very special. The guy carrying the torch in (Myles Mitchell) has a pretty cool story too.
Grenadine loves to make funny faces. This is the one that she’s come up with for winking. It’s pretty much the same as her praying one but much different than her scowl which is pretty menacing. I’ll have to get a picture of that sometime, if my camera can handle it.
First off, some activities! Making a snowman with a little baby (everything has to have a baby!) and practicing some princess dance moves.
Making some treats with Mom and hanging out for pictures
The presents! Saffron and Grenz both got baby Cabbage Patch dolls (named Judy and Leone).
The wrap-up. Saffron loved the clear back pack that she got from friends so much that she filled it with her toys and insisted that she get to go to sleep with it. This is the picture with her still wearing it while sleeping.
She took her sweet time to put all the pieces together but she’s finally working her walking magic. She’s loving walking around with her musical walker and when she’s pushed, she’ll take some steps on her own; it’s time.
Sometimes Saffron will say something hilarious that makes us really laugh (like this) and I’ll try to write it down right away. Here are a few that I managed to collect over the last few months (with explanations, if needed).
Wowee Mommy, you’re a great creature!
(looking at a ‘W’) That’s an upside down Mommy letter
They’re sad, I have hugs for them
Let’s get some tickling on!
I am doing that because I’m doing that
I like Ronnie, he doesn’t squeeze too tight (the Ronald McDonald statue)
We yawned together, we did a duet for yawns
I’m going to be shy at Santa (always at and decided in advance)
I need to check puppy’s femp bump (the sound hearts make)
We often remark at the different upbringing Grenadine is having compared to Saffron. The two girls are often caught playing together, sometimes nicely and even when on her own, Grenadine plays much different things than Saffron did at her age.
We had a great trip going to Disneyland for three days of fun! We got to go with our good friends who brought along Saffron’s good friend, Noah. The plane ride out there was a bit of a beast as United allows no checked bags and we were too cheap to pay the $20 per bag so we were stuck lugging our luggage around the airport, through our connections and onto the plane – yuck. Flight aside, the Disneyland experience was great – we stayed at a very cheap and very close motel which had a pool and a separate room for the kids (recommended!)
The Disneyland part itself was a lot of fun – the kids got to go on a bunch of fun rides (Saffron’s favorite was Peter Pan) and the adults got to go on a bunch as well (Flying over California and Indiana Jones were my highlights). Saffron and Grenadineposedwith a bunch of Disneycharacters; getting more comfortable with them as the days wore on. We also got to see fireworks, two parades, tons of rides, shows, and castles.
There was some concern that the kids wouldn’t actually remember this in the future but we didn’t really care too much – we had lots of fun on the days we were there and Saffron still talks about some of the fun and scary things she did there (she’s quick to say that she went on Thunder Mountain, which was scary, but she was brave; she finishes by saying that she wouldn’t do that one again).
Yesterday we went to Disneyland again and got to see all kinds of good and frightening things, Pooh’s corner was certainly one of the non-frightening highlights. On the list of frightening was the Nemo submarine voyage and Mr. Toad’s wild ride. Today we’re off to see Princesses and go on some more rides!
Our family was at the airport on Saturday and we managed to spot an injured Canuck making his way through security. We didn’t bug him then but when we noticed him grabbing a seat near us, we stopped by to grab a picture of him with our less-shy daughter. DanielSedin suffered a broken foot in a game against my favorite team, the Habs back in early October. He told us that it’s feeling better and that he should be able to skate soon. He was off to Dallas to meet up with the team after their loss the day before.
